Harvey True 3-D

Here is a great example of a Harvey True 3-D anaglyph perspective drawing from Dan Symmes‘ article in the 3-D Comic Books section of Bob Furmanek‘s  comprehensive 3-D Film Archive site.  This form of parallax foreshortening was used sparingly due to the skilled labor involved.  However the technique set Harvey 3-D comics a bit above the work of other publishers who relied solely on layering inked acetates of image elements that were horizontally offset to appear at different levels of stereoscopic depth.  That cardboard cutout look can be seen in the background elements of this image where only the leaping leopard is rendered with stereoscopic perspective.
